Groningen, the Netherlands, is growing, and fast. A large part of this growth is due to a steadily increasing international population.

In 2016, together with Marian Marian Counihan (of research and project bureau Maieutic), we were asked to develop with the local municipality a multi-year program for Groningen’s Internationalisation. We conducted an in-depth research on several aspects: housing, work, city living, and communication.

 

The municipality, in cooperation with the University of Groningen, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, and Groningen’s University Medical Center Groningen, accepted the proposals. The offered projects are currently being implemented in a verity of fields.

In 2017, Groningen was awarded the URBACT’s Internationalisation For Sustainable Future for the city’s efforts.
